Ruben’s Journey to Law
From a young age, Ruben Martinez knew what he wanted to do with his life: help people through the law.
In third grade, while other kids dreamed of becoming athletes or astronauts, Ruben declared in a classroom essay that he would one day be a lawyer. Even then, his teachers saw something in him—determination, empathy, and a sense of justice beyond his years.
Growing up in a hardworking, single-parent household, Ruben learned early what perseverance really means. His mother worked and attended college full-time, showing him the value of sacrifice and dedication. Those lessons stuck with him. Though the path wasn’t always easy, Ruben’s drive never faded. When a college counselor tried to talk him out of pursuing law, saying it was “too difficult,” it only strengthened his resolve. He lived by the motto:
“Nothing worth having is ever easy.”
That grit carried him through every challenge—from the long nights studying at Fullerton College to the rigors of law school—and eventually to the dream he had carried since childhood: opening his own practice.

Today, Ruben practices law with the same purpose that first inspired him—to help everyday people. His firm, RJM Lawyer, is built on accessibility, transparency, and trust.
